Dish up fish for Lent
As if Louisianans needed an excuse to eat more seafood, the Lenten season is upon us. Since last year’s season, plenty of new seafood-centric restaurants have popped up: If you haven’t already, try dining at one of these relatively new eateries on your Friday fish forays. Le Creole: This local joint serves up Cajun food with haute cuisine flair, from tempura-fried crabs to the namesake dish, the Le Creole, which includes crawfish, crab and shrimp topped with mozzarella and basil. Niche Bar & Grill: Niche on Siegen Lane serves up tons of seafood on their wide-ranging menu, including seafood platters, crawfish pie, oyster po-boys, seafood pasta and fried catfish. At this restaurant, Lent need not involve penance. Rock-n-Sake: What better way to enjoy the piscine pleasures of Lent than with fresh sushi? Specialty rolls like the Rock-n-Roll with tempura shrimp and spicy crawfish-tail stuffed rolls will make your Lenten lunching delightful.
