Details announced for Irish Film Festival

The Baton Rouge Irish Club has announced details for the fifth annual Irish Film Festival.

The two-day event will showcase short and feature films at the Manship Theatre on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. A dance workshop, performance from the Na Cait Dubh Bagpipers, after party and other events will be held around town as well.

Among the films on this year’s slate are The Secret of Roan Inish, Earthbound, and The Guard. On Friday night, the festival will celebrate its opening with seven short films. The night, dubbed the “Wee Irish Film Night,” kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.50.

Doors will open at the Manship Theatre Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for the dance workshop and performance by The McTeggart Irish Dancers of Louisiana. Tickets for each of the feature films on Saturday are $8.50 per film. Saturday’s first feature film starts at 12:45 p.m.

Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s will host the free after party Saturday at 10 p.m. Wild Irish Roots will perform. A free Military Day screening of Fortress will take place at Celtic Media Centre Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m. Phil Brady’s Bar and Grill will host a Pub Night Monday, July 22 and screen Grabbers at 7 p.m.
