Dalton’s homecoming travels down memory lane
The Lafayette Street music venue, originally Dalton’s Department Store, has been many things: The Rathskeller, The Beef Tavern, Didee’s Restaurant and the “new” Tabby’s Blues Box & Heritage Hall. Friends of Dalton’s will revisit the days when Mayor Kip Holden worked in the building and when Chef John Folse started a restaurant there early in his career. The owners also have little gems of Dalton’s history, such as a box of pantyhose with the original Dalton’s Department Store logo, found by a man who was clearing out space after his wife passed away. The public is invited to share memories of days gone by Saturday at 244 Lafayette Street. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
