Cut ‘Footloose’

Six degrees of Kevin Bacon got an addendum last fall when the 1984 outlaw dance dramedy he made famous was updated in the brand new remake of Footloose, available now on DVD. As an city-slick outsider who comes to a small town only to discover a draconian anti-dancing law is enforced by a faction of conservatives led by the moralistic local pastor played by Dennis Quaid, Kenny Wormald steps into Bacon’s shoes as hot shot Ren. Like the original, soon Ren falls for the preacher’s daughter and together they ignite the local youth’s passion for rowdy rock ‘n’ roll. Dancing with the Stars’ Juliane Hough and Andi McDowell co-star. Rated PG-13.
