‘Crowns’ at Manship
The New Venture Theatre is bringing back the triumphant gospel musical Crowns, after a run of sold-out shows at Manship in May. Crowns tells the story of a young black woman named Yolanda who moves south after her brother is killed in New York. Through the medium of her grandmother’s hats, Yolanda learns to fit into the genteel but unfamiliar Southern culture that surrounds her, and gains self-confidence and insight. Thursday through Sunday at the Independence Park Theatre. Tickets are $20. Visit theparktheatre.com for more information.
