‘Crazy’ in love
Steve Carell’s first post-The Office comedy finds the star hitting a major mid-life crisis this Friday with Crazy, Stupid Love. Thinking his life is idyllic, his wife’s sudden request for a divorce sends Carell into a tailspin. Forced to navigate single life and dating for the first time in 20 years, he turns to a slickly professional self-help lothario played by Ryan Gosling. Juggling his soon-to-be-ex played by Julianne Moore, his kids and his newfound freedoms as a single man, Carell’s path mirror’s that of Gosling, who unexpectedly falls in love with an innocent Emma Stone. Both are put in situations that force them to reexamine themselves. Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei co-star. Rated PG-13.
