Crack the ‘Code’

Newly minted action star Jake Gyllenhaal wakes up in the body of an unknown man only to discover he is part of a dangerous military mission to find the bomber of the train he is riding in Source Code, new on DVD this week. The sophomore effort from acclaimed Moon director Duncan Jones, Source Code is sure to make fans of the old Quantum Leap series happy as it mixes that cult classic show’s premise with Bourne Identity thrills and post-9/11 anti-terrorism fears to create a taught whodunnit thrill ride. As Gyllenhaal’s secret agent relives the last eight minutes of the man’s life over and over, he searches for the truth but becomes romantically involved with a young woman on the train which could jeopardize his mission completely before time runs out and an even larger terrorist bombing is executed. Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan and Jeffrey Wright co-star. Rated PG-13.
