Country ‘Strong’

Mining the same ground country comeback ground as 2009’s Jeff Bridges-starring Crazy Heart, Country Strong stars Gwyneth Paltrow (who is planning a music career after the success of her music in the film) as a popular star turned destructive addict who is attempting to get herself clean and resuscitate her long-dead career with the help of her manager-husband, played by country artist-turned-actor Tim McGraw. After being released from rehab, Palrtow’s Kelly Canter is partnered with the hottest young songwriter in Nashville in hopes he can help keep her new start on track. But an unlikely romance blossoms and sets off problems for her and her husband even as her over-hyped comeback concert approaches. Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester co-star. Rated PG-13.
