Commercial appeal – BR native makes a name for himself in television
Jeb Quaid has made his mark on TV before. The Baton Rouge native played Ted Ferguson in the Bud Light Daredevil commercials from a few years ago (daring himself in one clip to stay two full minutes past 5 p.m., on a Friday!).
Now living in Los Angeles, he works behind the scenes with advertising agency Innocean Worldwide copywriting ads for Hyundai, Bud Light, Cars.com and others. His most recent copywriting gig was a commercial for Hyundai’s Santa Fe, in which a father brings his kids along on risky adventures but instructs them, “Don’t tell Mom.” The quick editing and clever, twist ending made it a natural fit among the funny commercials airing during a recent Sunday Night Football lineup.
“I’ve always been interested in comedy and creative writing, but I didn’t realize I wanted to go into advertising until after college,” Quaid says. “I had been working in the music industry in Nashville and started to realize it wasn’t what I truly wanted to do. I started to think about ways I could make a living writing creatively—I had been doing stand up comedy at night, but that was more for fun. Advertising popped into my head and seemed like a fun and grounded job.”
