Coming up: How to garden in small spaces
Turnips, chives, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, dill, cilantro and parsley—now’s the time to get those fall herbs and veggies in the ground. Even if you have limited growing space, it’s possible to come up with high-yield gardens that can give you plenty of raw materials to work with this autumn.
Learn more about growing in small spaces at a workshop hosted by Slow Food Baton Rouge and taught by AgCenter horticulturalist Dr. Kiki Fontenot on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Burden Center’s conference center (Map it!). The event is free with an optional $5 donation to support the work of Slow Food Baton Rouge.
More classes will follow this fall, including cheese-making taught by the AgCenter’s Kayanush Aryana Oct. 15, sauerkraut and basic fermentation using farm-fresh cabbage with the AgCenter’s Paul Wilson Oct. 29, and using dried herbs from the garden with Red Stick Spice Co. owner and trained chef Anne Milneck Nov. 5.
