‘Classic’ culinary style

This coming Monday, Oct. 5, the 25th Annual American Culinary Foundation of Greater Baton Rouge’s Culinary Classic celebrates a quarter-century of bringing the Red Stick the best that Louisiana cookery has to offer. Top chefs from all over the state will compete in ten categories, providing a massive buffet of bite-sized portions to tempt lucky guests. Categories are wide-ranging—everything from soups and salads to Louisiana nouvelle cuisine. A portion of the proceeds from the night go towards the ACF’s scholarship fund, which supports young Louisiana chefs in training. “This is a chance to remind everyone how much this organization has given back to the community,” says Sarah Liberta, spokeswoman for the Baton Rouge chapter of the ACF. “Our chefs donate food, time, and energy to countless events all year long, and this is the one event in which our organization fundraises for itself.” The event takes place at the Sheraton Hotel downtown, starting at 6:30 p.m. $60 gets you in to try some of the best food in the city, so don’t miss this event of epicurean proportions.
