Chef Don Bergeron talks expansion, hires new executive chef

Don Bergeron’s catering and food company is growing with plans for an expansion on the horizon.

Just last week, Bergeron added Derek Roth as an executive chef. Roth was last working as a lead line cook at Juban’s and has previous experience as a sous chef at City Club of Baton Rouge. Roth also helped with food operations at The Pelican House. Trained in classical French techniques, the young chef moved to Louisiana last year from West Virginia.

“I was interested in the culinary atmosphere here, for sure,” Roth says. “The food intrigues me, and the heart of the food down here … I wanted to see what that was about.”

Roth says the growth potential of Bergeron Enterprises was a big reason he joined the company.

Bergeron also says that with his retail items taking off, customers can expect exciting additions in the next years.

“Part of our next move will be expanding on the retail and have a catering facility within the next couple of years,” he says. “We’re anticipating more growth and are excited for the future.”
