Cheers: Michelada
The cerveza preparada, a type of Mexican shandy, is fast gaining recognition in the U.S. as a spicy, beery answer to the Bloody Mary. Mixing beer with tomato juice, clamato or salsa, this drink has been popular since the 1940s with our neighbors to the south, but only recently has it begun popping up on local radars. The Michelada is just one variation of a half dozen popular takes on this pungent tipple, with salt, lime and tomato juice, Worchestshire, soy and hot sauces. It’s guaranteed to bring a peppery twist to your porch parties this summer. Click here for the recipe.
