Cheers: Geaux Vino

LSU nixed plans to put its name on an officially licensed Tin Roof beer, but the university’s alumni association has already sponsored a new wine. This “high-quality yet affordable” California wine has been on shelves since Christmas and includes a new batch of varietals from Weibel Family Vineyards in California, each bottle of which sports the proud marks of purple and gold. Premium Reserve Red and White and a Sparkling Brut are available from wine retailers across the state and here in Baton Rouge. You may wonder why anybody would need LSU-endorsed wine; a better question, at least for Tiger fans, is, why wouldn’t you? After the football season we had, not much says “Geaux Tigers!” better than a swirl and a sip—or gulp.—Jay Ducote
