Cheers: A midsummer night’s picks
The Et Cetera Wine Co. is a collaborative project among four childhood friends: Mark Beringer, David Duckhorn, Harry Merlo and Matt Miller. Each grew up in a winegrowing family of northern California. Their new venture produces wines under two labels, including this one, ETC, which is all about approachability. Cool-fermented in stainless steel, this 100% Chardonnay comprises grapes from California’s north and central coasts. Its nose features tropical fruit, and on the palate, look for apple, pear and citrus. Its acidity makes it a great match for seafood but also a hit with maple-glazed pork chops, a cheese course or retro ladies’ lunch fare like chicken tetrazzini.
