Chamber music at Shaver Theatre

The Chamber Season closes with a piece by Kurt Weill that sets the violin against an orchestral wind section. Known as a very provocative composer, he shows his longing for humanism in a century marked by two world wars. The piece is followed a chamber concerto by Alban Berg, which was written as an homage to his teacher, Arnold Schoenbergon his fiftieth birthday. Berg crafted this compact and technically accomplished work, which is considered one of the great examples of German Expressionism. The evening ends with Ibert’s delightful Concerto for Cello and Winds. Friday night at LSU’s Shaver Theatre. brso.org
