Kenny Neal comes home and hosts his own festival showcasing the area’s best blues music. Neal’s Family & Friends Heritage Blues & Southern Soul Festival kicks off at noon Saturday at the West Baton Rouge Multi-purpose Arena (152 Turner Rd., Port Allen, LA., 70767). The show includes performances from The King Pharaoh Session Band at 1 p.m., the entire Neal family at 3:30 p.m., and a tribute to Jackie Neal at 6 p.m. Admission is $15. The St. Vincent de Paul food bank will also be on site accepting canned goods. The 56-year-old Neal was one of 225‘s People to Watch in 2014. This year, he’ll be recording an album in Baton Rouge with guests such as Allen Toussaint, George Porter Jr. and Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthews Band. For more information on Neal, click here.
