Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – This weekend is the 29th annual Wearin’ of the Green Parade.
This weekend is the 29th annual Wearin’ of the Green Parade. The fun begins promptly Saturday at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Hundred Oaks Avenue and South Acadian Thruway by the Catholic Life Center. The parade will run through the Garden District and ends at the intersection of Lee Drive and Perkins Road. This year’s grand marshal is Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson.
Juban’s and Huey’s will team up for a block party Saturday starting at 7 a.m. in the Juban’s parking lot (3739 Perkins Rd.). The party will feature music from David St. Romain, Chase Tyler Band, The Anteeks, The Gillis Silo Band and Perkins Road. Tickets are $10. You must be 21 to enter.
Galatoire’s Bistro will also host a party in its parking lot (3535 Perkins Rd.) Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The event will feature food and drink as well as live music by The Michael Foster Project, The Chris LeBlanc Band, The Rusty Yates Band and Hazy Ray.
The LSU Kappa Deltas will also be selling jambalaya for $8 to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America at numerous locations along the parade route, at the house (3950 W. Lakeshore Dr.), Billy Heroman’s (1946 Perkins Rd.), Catholic Life Center (1800 S. Acadian Thruway) and Cracker Barrel (3030 Perkins Rd.).
