Celebrate national pie month
February is a great month for those possessed of a sweet tooth for the fact that it holds Valentine’s Day, the chocolatiest holiday this side of Halloween. But it also has the distinction of being national pie month, an event worth celebrating. If you’re craving a slice, why not try one of these sweet classic pastries from local eateries: Louie’s Café: The diner on the rim of LSU serves up a tasty slice of Americana with their fresh, hot apple pie, rich with cinnamon and a crispy crust for just $2.95—with a scoop of ice cream for that ŕ la mode flair, just $3.95. Superior Grill: Topper of Best of 225’s Mexican category for several years now, Superior offers two different flavors of pie. Pick up a slice of classic, creamy Key lime for $4.95, or if your tastes run sweeter, try a bite of ooey-gooey Heath Bar pie for a toffee and chocolate kick. Acme Oyster House: Go for the gobs of fresh gulf seafood, stay for Max’s Banana Foster Pie, which blends all the sweet tastes of the classic New Orleans dessert in a delectable pastry. For $5.49, it’s a little slice of heaven. Parrain’s: Tiny pies are an adorable addition to the pie-lovers list, and Parrain’s mini-pecan pie, about five inches in size and served with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, is a delectable treat. At just $4.50, you’ll want a dozen of these to take home afterward.
