This thriller could end summer’s up-and-down movie season on a high note. From the writer of 2007’s Eastern Promises, Closed Circuit tells the story of two lawyers and former lovers who get entangled in espionage and drama after joining a defense team for an international terrorist’s trial. The film stars Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall and is directed by John Crowley, who also made a splash in 2007 thanks to the warmly-received Boy A, starring Andrew Garfield. Though the film will be released Wednesday and is up against One Direction’s 3-D documentary/concert film this weekend, Closed Circuit could contend for the top spot at the box office after the last few weeks’ dismal returns.
