Capitol City Crawfish now offering specialty meats

In January, Will Boutte took over Capitol City Crawfish. A former insurance adjustor and longtime fan of the business located at 5355 Government St., Boutte came across an ad saying Capitol City Crawfish was for sale, and he couldn’t pass it up.

As the new owner and manager, Boutte is upping the inventory to provide more than seasonal crawfish—recently turning the location into a seafood mart with specialty meat items from Poche’s in Breaux Bridge.

On the seafood side, Capitol City Crawfish features oysters, crab, shrimp, mahi mahi, snapper and much more. On the meat side, the market has everything from gator patties and stuffed pork chops to tasso and andouille.

Boutte says this crawfish season has been slow because of the colder-than-normal weather, but should pick up within a week or two. Crawfish is currently going for $5.99 per pound at his market.

Capitol City Crawfish is open Wednesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, click here.
