Capital Area United Way hosts Jambalaya Jam today
Almost 50 teams will be on hand for the 26th annual Capital Area United Way Jambalaya Jam in downtown Baton Rouge. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. today at North Boulevard’s Town Square and features music from The Allison Collins Band, food, drink and 48 teams competing and showing off their skills for the jambalaya cook-off. The teams are made of chefs and cooks from local businesses and nonprofits such as The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of the Lake and many more. For a full list, click here.
Among the celebrity judges are Roland Doucet of Roland’s Rockin’ Cajun Show, 225 blogger Jay Ducote, former champion with the Jambalaya Festival Association Jody Elisar, Chris Wadsworth of Triumph Kitchen and many more.
All proceeds benefit Capital Area United Way’s focus on education, income and health in the 10-parish area. Tickets start at $7 for a to-go plate. A sampler plate for $10 and VIP tickets for $75 are also available. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
