Call ‘The Mechanic’

Few modern actors have embraced and perfected the ethos of the B-movie better than British action star Jason Statham. Statham’s latest flick is new on DVD and Blu-ray this week in The Mechanic. Starring as a world-class hitman, Statham takes a young protege played by the intensely talented Ben Foster under his gun and trains him in the ways of assassination. The problem is that Foster is actually the son of Statham’s mentor, a man who’s murder sent Statham on a personal vendetta against those responsible, a mission that could cloud his once-precise judgment with all of the messy emotions of revenge. Mini Anden and Donald Sutherland co-star. Rated R.
