Call my ‘Secretariat’
Filmed largely in Louisiana, the story of the world’s most famous race horse comes to life arrives on DVD this week with with Disney’s inspiring family-friendly drama, Secretariat. Cameras swoop down dirt-flung tracks on the heels of these animals as world-class horse-racing is shown in a way it’s never been before in a feature film as Secretariat and his team go for glory by attempting to win the Triple Crown for the first time in 25 years. Set in the early 1970s, Diane Lane plays Penny Chenery, the horse’s owner who rallies against all odds to raise the money and put the team together to make Secretariat a winner and one of the most celebrated athletes of all time. John Malkovich plays eccentric trainer Lucien Laurin who gets the best out of the horse and raises eyebrows along the way. Kevin Connolly, James Cromwell and Scott Glenn co-star. Rated PG.
