Calendar: Lemonade Day tasting … Abita Beer dinner at Galatoire’s

A great day for lemonade: Lemonade Day gets an early kick-off tonight at the Mall of Louisiana, as area youth participate in the first-ever “Best Tasting Lemonade” contest. Local media personalities will judge the contest, and the winner will receive free Cane’s chicken fingers for a year. During the contest, kids can sign up to participate in Lemonade Day and receive their special backpack, filled with workbooks and other materials that will guide them through the process of developing their own lemonade stand. Contest registration begins at 4 p.m. at the mall’s Boulevard entrance. More information at lemonadeday.org. Can’t ‘Abita’ this good time: Galatoire’s Bistro will host the latest in Abita Beer’s dinner series on Friday, May 6. This culinary event will pair Galatoire’s signature dishes with Abita beers selected specially to complement them.
