Calendar: Give Hope, Love, Life at LSU … Irish Club Wine Tasting … Signature Chef’s Auction
The three greatest gifts: Help out a great cause and give a toast to life this Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at LSU’s Tri-Delta house at the sorority’s Give Hope, Give Love, Give Life blood drive and donor registry event. Last year, two Tri-Delta sisters were diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses, which necessitated the use of donated bone marrow from the national registry. LSU’s Tri-Delta chapter is honoring its sisters with this event to help battle leukemia and expand the national bone marrow registry’s reach through the Be the Match program. Join the Tri-Deltas in giving blood and registering, then stick around from 7-9 p.m. for a “Celebration of Life” party. Learn more at LSU’s student government website by clicking here. Wine and dine Irish style: Head to the Celtic Media Center on Friday, Oct. 15, 7-9 p.m., for the Baton Rouge Irish Club’s wine tasting event. Special guest John Concannon, the fourth-generation Irish-American vintner of Concannon Vineyards of California, will give a presentation and sampling of the wines produced on his family estate. You can also bid on one-of-a-kind items at the silent auction. Tickets are $25; call 241-2318 to reserve your spot. Chefs for children: On Oct. 20 at the Baton Rouge Marriot, some of the Red Stick’s top chefs will prepare a one-of-a-kind meal to support the March of Dimes, which raises money for the care of children born prematurely. This Signature Chefs event will also feature a silent auction with items from vendors all over the Capital City. Call 298-0655 to reserve your tickets.
