Jazz picnic: The Central Chamber of Commerce hosts a jazz picnic Saturday at 4 p.m. on Magnolia Square’s Great Lawn, 13606 Lovett Rd. Enjoy music by Alan Berteau and Brian Andrews of Storywood and bluesman Kenny Acosta, as well as Kleinpeter Ice Cream. Picnic baskets, blankets and chairs are welcome. Details available by calling Steele Pollard, 757-1970. Grand opening: Sharky’s Wing Shop on Government Street next to Opie’s Cajun Café opens its doors June 13 from noon to 2 p.m. There will be plenty of free food such as jambalaya and wings, and a cash bar featuring cold beer and margaritas. And Opie’s is piggybacking on the affair with a Customer Appreciation Party. Everyone’s invited, but must RSVP by e-mailing [email protected]. Through the Grapevine: “You Art What You Eat,” a traveling food and culture program now brings you more delicious food and artistic musings. Donaldsonville’s Grapevine Cafe hosts a reading from Country Roads Literary Prize Winners at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Future dates include stops in Prairieville and St. Francisville.
