Choose your brews: Matherne’s Supermarket has added a new component to their extensive wine cellar—beer! More than 200 varieties of craft and import beer, to be exact. And what better way to celebrate than with a five-course beer dinner, held in Matherne’s wine tasting room this Saturday night? Email [email protected] with your name and number to make your reservation. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. Everything’s coming up basil: Want to add fresh herbs and vegetables to your home-cooked meals? Then head out to the Botanic Garden on Independence Boulevard on Saturday, Aug. 20, for the annual Summer Plant Sale. You’ll be able to pick up regional culinary herbs and veggies perfect for transplanting to your backyard—along with non-edibles like lilies, irises and begonias. All proceeds will benefit the Botanic Garden. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
