Viva la Festival Latino: The 24th annual Festival Latino promises authentic Hispanic flavors Sunday, Sept. 26, at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Center for the Deaf on Brightside Lane. Baton Rougeans can savor the food, music and cultures of Cuba, Colombia, Honduras and El Salvador at the festival, and enjoy handmade jewelry exhibits, dancing from the Latin Ballet of Virginia, a mariachi band and succulent snacks, like Salvadoran papusas. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children under 12. Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Prost!: The Deutsches Haus in New Orleans holds their annual Oktoberfest celebration every Friday and Saturday evening, starting Sept. 24 and continuing through Oct. 23. Enjoy dancing and live music at the outdoor Biergarten, and sample beers, wines and liquors from all over Germany. Tasty German food to go with your libations will be available for the Oktoberfest parade. This will be the last Oktoberfest held at the Deutsches Haus’s current location at 200 South Galvez, so enjoy it while you can. Visit deutscheshaus.org for more information.
