Bummin’ It

Beanie caps can be stylish, too

Each fall and winter I gravitate toward my hat collection more and more. They are such an easy way to complete an outfit and keep you warm! This particular beanie may make me look like a hoodlum, but I am a warm hoodlum every time I put it on. So, whatever.

For those cool spell days, layering is key. Because we don’t live in a climate that justifies me buying flannel-lined jeans (not that I do not want a pair so.bad.ly.), my bottom half usually has only one layer. To keep my scrawny bod warm, I have to layer on top like the Michelin Man. A button down stays close to my body for a base layer, while a sweatshirt adds a light layer of warmth as an alternative to the usual itchy sweater.

I stole this canvas jacket from my brother and have no clue how I lived so long without it! It is heavyweight canvas which keeps icy winds out and the olive shade somehow goes with everything in my closet. I realize that layering all of these things at once makes me look like a bum, but I am a warm bum—and that’s all that matters.
