Bluebonnet Swamp Haunted Hike
BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center hosts the month’s last Swamp Haunted Hike Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Designed as an alternative to scary haunted houses, this program teaches young children about survival “tricks” of snakes, rats, insects and alligators as the kids collect treats at educational stations along the trail. Once inside the Nature Center, visitors can pass through the Animal Morgue to view natural artifacts featuring skulls, pelts and costumed taxidermy and then proceed to the Creepy Cavern where they can touch nature at its grossest.

The evening also offers face painting and a chance to meet live owls from Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary.
Children are encouraged to arrive dressed in their favorite costume and to bring a flashlight. While pre-registration is not required, the cost is $6 per participant, $3 for swamp pass members and free for children younger than 2 years old. For more information, call 757-8905 or click here.

Boo at the Zoo
This Saturday and Sunday are also the last chance for Baton Rouge families to participate in the 17th annual Boo at the Zoo. The merry-not-scary extravaganza has become Baton Rouge’s largest trick-or-treat event, which is expected to draw more than 30,000 visitors during its two weekend run.
