BREADA Tuesday farmers market at a temporary end

The summer heat is affecting more than just the color of our lawns—BREADA’s Tuesday farmers market on Goodwood Boulevard is shutting down early this year due to crop shortages. “Normally we close for three or four weeks during August anyway due to the end-of-summer weather affecting crop yield,” says Copper Alvarez, BREADA’s executive director. “It’s just that this year those weather patterns happened during June instead.” BREADA plans to reopen the Tuesday market on schedule in September, provided the weather holds. In the meantime, there’s still the Thursday market on Perkins Road and the Red Stick Farmers’ Market downtown on Saturdays to tide you over. —Rachael Upton
