Brandt’s Maisonette closes

Citing “the worst location in Baton Rouge,” Greg Brandt has closed Brandt’s Maisonette, the French restaurant he and his wife, Paula, have operated at 3786 Government St. for the past eight years. The restaurant had been located on Jefferson Highway for three years before moving to Government Street. Brandt says he’s not sure if the restaurant will re-emerge in Baton Rouge. “We’re going to take a little time off and play it by ear,” says Brandt, who shuttered the restaurant without announcement about two weeks ago. “We’ll see what happens.” While Brandt acknowledges Mid City has been a good area for retail shops and other businesses, he says it has not been a good location for a fine dining restaurant. —Steve Sanoski
