Blogger Jay Ducote launching Cajun barbecue sauce
Louisiana is known around the world for its distinctive blends of Cajun and Creole flavors, and local food blogger—and frequent 225 contributor—Jay Ducote is out to capture those flavors in a new signature barbecue sauce, soon to be hitting store shelves. “The goal is to combine the best of all barbecue worlds while marrying some unique Louisiana flavors,” says Ducote. “It will get its sweetness from Louisiana cane syrup and brown sugar, while the spice will come from cayenne pepper and Cajun hot sauce.” Baton Rouge brewery Tin Roof’s Perfect Tin Amber Ale is another ingredient designed to add a unique note to the new sauce, dubbed Jay D’s Louisiana Barbecue Sauce. Look for it at your local grocery store beginning this fall, and keep an eye on Ducote’s Bite and Booze blog for further announcements. Can’t wait to taste it? Head to Brew Ha-Ha tomorrow to sample their new Friday-only lunch special: The Bite & Brew BBQ sandwich, featuring Jay’s new sauce.
