Best Eats feeds hungry families for the holidays

Since January, 225 Best Eats subscribers have enjoyed great offers from great restaurants for their own dining pleasure. However, this week we offered them an opportunity to buy meals for others in need through the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank—and they did so in style. In 42 hours, 644 donors raised $15,120 with one-click credit card donations, with 100% going towards the food bank—225 paid all transaction fees. The money can provide 105,840 meals for hungry Baton Rougeans, or feed 1,260 families of four for a week. “We sincerely appreciate and are grateful for the support of 225 readers,” said Erin Swenson, vice president of communications and public relations for the Food Bank. “This money will go a long way through the holidays and into the new year as well.” If you aren’t a 225 Best Eats subscriber, you can still donate online at the food bank’s website, brfoodbank.org.
