Baton Rouge Gallery opens July exhibition
Tonight at 7 p.m. the Baton Rouge Gallery hosts a “First Wednesday” opening reception with free wine and hors d’oeuvres to celebrate the latest works by four of its artist members: Frankie Gould, April Hammock, Steve Schmidt and Sarah Wiseman. Throughout the month of July, gallery visitors will be treated to Gould’s bold, yet whimsical depictions of poultry, Schmidt’s intuitive and evocative abstract works, Hammock’s acrylic paintings of subconscious manifestations and Wiseman’s layered and introspective mixed media works. The exhibition is free and open to the public for its duration, Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. All four artists will also be on hand for a special ARTiculate Gallery Tour this Sunday at 4 p.m. Here, the public will have the chance to hear directly from the artists themselves about the inspirations, techniques and processes behind the works featured in the gallery. batonrougegallery.org
