Bacon, pork shortage expected next year … Community Coffee hitting the campaign trail
Look who’s oinking: As The Los Angeles Times reports today, you might want to get your fill of ham this year, because “a world shortage of pork and bacon next year is now unavoidable,” according to an industry trade group. Blame the drought conditions that blazed through the corn and soybean crop this year. Less feed led to a decline in herds across the European Union “at a significant rate,” according to the National Pig Association in Britain. Grinding out votes: Community Coffee Co. is asking its customers to go to its polls and cast a vote for their favorite coffee blend. Five Community blends are on the ballot: Five Star Hotel Blend, Colombia Classico, Café Special, Breakfast Blend and Signature Blend Dark Roast. If you’re favorite isn’t on the ballot, don’t worry, there’s also a write-in option. Community Coffee will be traveling the state in its trolley, visiting grocery stores and family-friendly events, where voting will take place via iPads.
