Arts: Best Bets
Sometimes, it takes the talented eye of an artist to remind you of the beauty outside in south Louisiana, even when the heat and humidity make you want to stay indoors. Starting Aug. 11, the LSU Museum of Art will showcase more than 50 paintings, sculptures, video installations and more from artists inspired by our mossy trees, swampy waters and abundant wildlife. The works draw from the beauty, but also the devastation—one haunting piece from Ralph Bourque depicts pelicans in heavy black ink with an oilrig looming behind them. The “Uniquely Louisiana” exhibit runs until Nov. 11. Visit lsumoa.com for more information.
