Art Melt deadline extended
If you’ve been rushing to put together an entry for this summer’s Art Melt, you’re in luck. Organizers of the event, the largest juried art exhibit in the state, have extended the Saturday deadline for entries until next Monday, June 3.
Louisiana artists have the entire weekend until 11:59 p.m. on Monday to fill out the online application, which includes among other things an artist statement, images of your piece(s) and the application fee. Find out more about the application process here.
It’s the perfect opportunity to have your work seen by a large audience, as well as this year’s jurors: Jordana Pomeroy, executive director of the LSU Museum of Art; Susan Edwards, executive director and CEO of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, Tenn.; and Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker, executive director of the Frye Art Museum in Seattle.

Last year, Art Melt accumulated 632 submissions, the event’s highest amount ever, and attracted more than 3,000 attendees. The event celebrates its 10th year in downtown Baton Rouge on July 20, moving back to the Louisiana State Museum near the capitol building. A ticketed preview party with food, drinks and live music is scheduled for July 19. Check out our story on Art Melt from the May issue here.
