Area ’51’

In a new CG-animated adventure, Planet 51 cleverly flips the classic E.T. paradigm by personifying little green Martians as ordinary suburbanites and making humans the alien invaders. In this case, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s slick astronaut Captain Chuck Baker lands on a planet and thinks he is the first intelligent life form there until he sees the white picket fences, the barbecue pits and the kiddies playing hopscotch. While frightened citizens and the military pursue Baker, the out-of-his-element astronaut befriends a young alien who agrees to help him escape to his spacecraft and safely return home to Earth. Jessica Biel, John Cleese, Seann William Scott and Gary Oldman co-star. Rated PG.
