Altar Boyz a slap in the music industry’s face
-
Altar Boyz, a hilarious musical comedy about five small-town guys on their Raise the Praise tour, satirizes the phenomenon of boy bands, the popularity of Christian-themed music and excessive product placement in contemporary American culture. If you can muster through terrible dance moves and lyrics such as “Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait” and “Jesus Called Me on My Cell Phone,” you’ll see an intricately constructed narrative about five young friends whose emotional and moral journeys bring them to a personal and professional crossroads. Four shows, 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and two 2 p.m. matinees at the LSU Student Union Cotillion Ballroom. Tickets are now $8 to $35 and available by calling 578-5128. (Courtesy LSU)
