‘Allen’ wrenched
Woody Allen rarely even turns up to accept his own awards, much less spend time giving in-depth interviews about his life and work. That’s why it came as a pleasant shock when the iconic writer, director and comedia agreed to allow PBS and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Robert Weide to delve into his legacy of films, his creative process, his witty world view and even his formative years as a child in The Bronx for Woody Allen: A Documentary. What results is a portrait of a unique talent that is as rare as it is fascinating. Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Larry David and other stars were also interviewed for the film.
