ALL CITY Teen Poetry Slam Festival kicks off Thursday

Thursday and Friday night, you’ll get an opportunity to see up-and-coming young slam poets in the annual ALL CITY Teen Poetry Slam Festival at Baton Rouge Community College’s Black Box Theatre. The festival features teams of youth poets, ages 13-19, participating in panel discussions, writing and performing poems, as well as hosting open-mic readings and more. Thursday and Friday will be a semifinal bout at 3:30 p.m. The suggested donation is $5. Next Saturday, the grand slam finals will be held at the Manship Theatre with a block party to follow on the plaza outside the Shaw Center. The suggested donation to the finals is $3.
