‘Adult’ fiction

Charlize Theron is a hauntingly persistent nightmare of an ex-flame in this week’s new comedy Young Adult from the mind of Oscar-winning Juno writer Diablo Cody. Her high school boyfriend, played by Patrick Wilson, has moved on. He’s married. He’s a father. He’s happy. But none of that deters Theron’s trainwreck of a fiction writer who is determined to win him back at all costs after her sudden divorce sends her over the edge. Returning to her home town, she re-enters Wilson’s new idyllic new life with comically disastrous results. Patton Oswalt and Elizabeth Reaser co-star.
