A Rural Life Christmas

Gingerbread, anyone? The sights, sounds and all the 19th century trimmings of Christmas time in the country come alive during the annual LSU Rural Life Museum’s “A Rural Life Christmas” this Sunday. Smell the freshly cut greenery, from smilax vines to Ponderosa Pines, and of course experience what’s cooking in the open-hearth kitchen. Costumed re-enactors and artisans will demonstrate crafts such as candle making, soap making, blacksmithing, Rosary crafting, textiles and doll making, and wagon rides will be offered for everyone to enjoy. Nineteenth century yard games and storytelling by local professionals will continue throughout the day. Grab a jambalaya or gumbo dinner while your kids visit with Papa Noel by the bonfire. 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Click here for more information.
