A new ‘bright light’ for Indian cuisine fans
Al-Noor translated into English means “bright light,” and the new restaurant (Map it!) carrying that name provides more than optimism for fans of Indian food. Al-Noor Indian Cuisine opened in late May, and manager Sayma Hanif says the response has been positive. You might have tasted chef Mohamed Hanif’s dishes and authentic flair at Bay Leaf and Curry N Kabab. However, Al-Noor is the cook’s opportunity to show off his skills on his own. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the restaurant features a lunch buffet; and 5 p.m.-10 p.m., Al-Noor serves a dinner a la carte menu. Among some of the dishes are favorites such as chicken tikka masala, goat curry, garlic naan and more. The restaurant prides itself on giving patrons an authentic taste of India with dishes such as the Thali specials, which is a sampler dish served on a round tray and featuring an appetizer, Tandoori chicken, daal and more. Al-Noor also offers catering. For more information, call 755-0397. —Matthew Sigur
