A heaping helping of Fęte Rouge
The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society is ramping up for its big annual festival, Fęte Rouge, a two-day celebration of the best in Baton Rouge’s food and wine culture. The event begins with the sixth Grace “Mama” Marino Lifetime Achievement Award dinner Aug. 23 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which honors wine expert Tullio Saffiotti. The evening features a seven-course dinner specially prepared and served by local chefs, with a selection of fine wines complementing each course, as well as live entertainment. The second event, the Food & Wine Fęte, is Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. and features the Fęte Rouge Chefs Competition, where local chefs will prepare their best dishes for the chance at winning a Gold Medal or Best in Show. This evening features live entertainment, a silent auction, more than 150 wines to taste from around the globe as well as the chance to taste all the delicacies prepared by local competing chefs.
