A crisp beer for right now
Lazy Magnolia’s Indian Summer Spiced Ale might sound heavy, but man, this beer is the perfect evening opener right about now. Spiced means orange peel and coriander, but fear not. While some brews can slap you around with overdone infusions, this one is subtle. Most importantly, it’s crisp and light-bodied – a fitting match for an obnoxiously hot month.
Lazy Magnolia is a native Mississippi brewery that started in 2003, and its culture and vibe in Mississippi feel much like Abita does in Louisiana. Lazy Magnolia developed a following with its Southern Pecan Nut Brown ale, a bronze medalist in the World Beer Cup’s Specialty Beer category in 2006. It also features a Sweet Potato Cream Stout, pale ale and honey ale. The brewery operates out of a facility near the Stennis Space Center off I-10 where it gives tours every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. You can find it in pubs and stores throughout greater Baton Rouge.
