A clever yarn
On the same night that hundreds of knitters wrapped the entirety of Pittsburgh’s Three Sisters Bridge in thousands of feet of colorful yarn, one crafty Baton Rougean took the initiative and transformed this stop sign on the corner of Drehr and Belmont streets into a whimsical flower. Both acts are part of the same new street art movement known as “yarn bombing.” The quirky trend features guerrilla knitters and crochet masters turning ordinary or neglected public spaces into cozy creations—and, unlike ordinary graffiti, which takes time and expense to remove, yarn bombing can be reversed with only a sharp pair of scissors.
