4th Annual Best of 225 awards – The biggest ‘Best of’ ever

It seems hard to believe, dear 225 reader, but you’re looking at the 4th annual Best of 225 Awards.
We launched our contest in 2006 with a simple, guiding principle: let readers and the community vote on its favorite restaurants, destinations and people in a contest that is not rigged, and whose votes cannot be stacked.
Four years later, the Best of 225 Awards is a tradition, a celebration of the best this community has to offer.

On the following pages you will find the carefully calculated results of 2009’s Best of 225 Awards. We hand-tallied tens of thousands of write-in nominations in early February, and then turned the results over to local market research firm Survey Communications Inc.
Via random selection from 29,000 individuals—which include online subscribers of 225 and its sister publications—SCI e-vited more than 8,000 people to pick their faves in more than 50 award categories.
Conducted from Feb. 26 to March 13, this year’s survey netted 2,700 respondents—the most votes we’ve ever received. You’ll find listed the winners, as well as 2nd place- and 3rd place-finishers, and the percentages reflect their share of votes in that category.
For their trouble, four lucky people who completed SCI’s poll were selected at random to receive $150 gift certificates for dinner at Juban’s or Mestizo Louisiana Mexican restaurant: Brent Couvillion, Gregg Fell, Kelly Patrick, and Jennifer Hatch.
